Six players from Newcastle United are taking part in the Qatar World Cup finals. The player of particular interest to NUFC is Garang Kuol, who signed with the club in September and will formally join when the January transfer window opens.

The tournament will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, with Qatar vs. Ecuador, which may not be the most exciting game to start the group games. However, 24 countries are competing in total, divided into six groups of four, for a total of 48 group games.
The top teams from each of the six groups move-forward, with the best four who finish third in groups also advancing. So, 16 teams remain in the game, with just 10 eliminated in the first round. Newcastle United has six players competing in the Qatar World Cup finals.
