Mumbai Indians will have a huge gap to fill after their talismanic batter Kieron Pollard retired on Tuesday. The 35-year-old, however, will continue to be part of the franchise as a batting coach.
In a statement, the West Indian said, โIt hasnโt been the easiest decision to make as I intend to keep playing for a few more years, but following discussions with Mumbai Indians I have a franchise which has achieved so much that needs to transition and if Iโm no longer to play for MI then I cannot see myself playing against MI either. โOnce an MI always an MIโ. This is not an emotional goodbye to MI however as I have agreed to take up the role of batting coach in the IPL as well as play with MI Emirates.โ
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have been one of the busiest sides in terms of bringing in new players. They snapped up Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals with all-rounder Aman Khan going the other way. They have also brought in New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and Afghanistan keeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from the Gujarat Titans.
