BHOPAL: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has lodged a fresh complaint of religious conversion in MP, the second in as many days, this time in Damoh.
NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo filed a complaint against 10 people associated with a Christian missionary institution on Sunday, alleging conversion within a hostel in Damoh. Hostel authorities denied the allegation.
Kanoongo said he had carried out a 'surprise check' of orphanages and children's homes being run by Christian missionaries. Accompanied by Madhya Pradesh State Child Rights Protection Commission member Omkar Singh Markam, Kanoongo had gone went to a children's hostel at Katni Bypass where he was allegedly stopped from entering the building. He later said a 17-year-old boy from Dindori told him that he was being "trained to become a pastor". Kanoongo went to Dehat police station and filed a complaint.
