Mysuru: The state government has formed a four-member committee to submit names of academicians to the seven newly launched universities in Karnataka.
The state government recently notified seven new universities in Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu, Bidar, Haveri, Koppal, and Bagalkot. The government is upgrading the existing post-graduate centres into independent universities by affiliating colleges in the district. The committee is headed by B Timmegowda, vice-chairman of the state higher education council. UoM former VC VG Talawar, former VC of Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi SB Hosamani, and founder of Grassroots Research And Advocacy Movement, Mysuru Dr R Balasubramaniam are its members.
“We asked all the universities to call for interested candidates for the VC’s post. From the applications we receive, we will shortlist the names and submit them to the state government,” said Timmegowda. TNN
