GURUGRAM: Residents have started feeling the chill and are taking out their winter clothes as the temperature has started dropping during the morning and evening hours. According to IMD, the mercury level is expected to dip by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next few days, while the minimum temperature may touch 11 degrees Celsius by Thursday.
The night temperature on Monday rose slightly to 14.2 degrees Celsius from 13.4 degrees Celsius recorded the previous day.
The weatherman has attributed this to the cloudy weather due to the western disturbance and prevailing warm and humid south-easterlies winds.
However, with the passage of the weather system, cold north-westerlies winds, blowing in the region, will lead to the dip in temperature in the coming days.
In the first 10 days of this month, the minimum temperature was hovering between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius. However, in the last few days, there has been a downward trend in the mercury level marking the onset of the winter season.
“We have been witnessing a downward trend in the temperature for the last few days due to cold north-westerlies winds blowing in the region. On Monday, there was a slight rise in temperature due to western disturbance and a change in wind direction to south-easterlies, which are warm and humid. But it will start falling gradually and may touch 11 degrees Celsius by Thursday,” said
Manmohan Singh, IMD director in Chandigarh.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 30.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, higher than 27.7 degrees Celsius recorded on Sunday.
It was two notches above the normal.
According to IMD’s forecast, the skies will be mostly clear on Tuesday with a possibility of mist in the morning hours.
The minimum and maximum temperature is expected to hover around 14 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
