4.1 quake hits Amritsar

An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred 145km west-northwest of Amritsar, Punjab, at around 3.42am, today. The depth of the earthquake was 120 km below the ground.

Bajrang Dal man killed in Jharkhand attack

Kamal Dev Giri, a Bajrang Dal functionary, died in a petrol bomb attack in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum on Saturday night, reports B Sridhar. It triggered a BJP-JMM war of words. People attending Giri’s funeral procession in Chakradharpur clashed with police on Sunday. An SIT was formed to probe the murder. Giri was reportedly set to join BJP.

Blast damages rail track in Rajasthan; NIA joins probe

Unidentified saboteurs tried to blow up a section of the Udaipur-Ahmedabad rail route at 8. 30pm on Saturday, causing cracks on the Odha bridge near Udaipur just over two hours after the newly inaugurated Udaipur-Asarwa Intercity Express had passed by. The NIA, Rajasthan anti-terrorism squad and the RPF are jointly probing the possible act of terror.

Ban on old vehicles set to be lifted today in Delhi

From Monday, all vehicles can ply on city roads without any restrictions, as Delhi government on Sunday lifted the ban on BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles. Transport department officials said the capital’s AQI had remained stable for the past few days. On Sunday, AQI stood at 303, again in the ‘very poor’ category.
