Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Child Welfare Council is organizing Children’s Day celebrations at Nishagandhi auditorium, Kanakakkunnu, on Monday. At 10am, the Children’s Day rally led by student leaders will commence from the Museum and end at Kanakakkunnu. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address the children at the event.
Minister for women and child development department Veena George, ministers Antony Raju and G R Anil, mayor Arya Rajendran, MP Shashi Tharoor and MLA V K Prashanth are expected to attend the event. The student leaders travelling in an open jeep will be accompanied by mounted cavalry, police band, NCC, scout and guides, student police and ‘panchavadyam’.
Different art forms based on themes ‘Do not waste anything earned’ and ‘Countering superstition with science’ will also be staged. Schools organizing the best rally would be awarded.
The event presided over by Children’s President Nanma S will be inaugurated by Children’s Prime Minister Minna Ranjith. Student Speaker Uma S will deliver the official address while Parvenandu P S and Gauthami M N will give the welcome note and vote of thanks, respectively.
The Children’s Day stamp 2022 will be released at the event. The picture drawn by Akshay V A based on the subject ‘fight against drug abuse’ is selected as the Children’s Day stamp this year. This topic was suggested by Ashwin Krishna V, a Class VI student of Senior Basic School, Thalassery, Kannur. Prizes for students who won various competitions organized as part of the Children’s Day celebrations and the overall trophy for the school with the highest number of points will be also presented at the event.
Meanwhile, the Children’s Day celebrations at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan will be inaugurated by Children’s PM Minna Ranjith at 6pm on Monday. This will be followed by a Rubik’s cube mosaic art presentation by world record holder Advaith Manazhy and other cultural performances by school students.
