Coimbatore: City police commissioner V Balakrishnan has penned a poem calling for peace and harmony in the wake of the Coimbatore car blast.
The Tamil poem titled `Religion vs Religion’ starts with a stanza saying any religion that loses humanity is akin to an infertile seed. Pointing out that people from multiple faiths join hands when there is a calamity, Balakrishnan wonders if everyone would unite only whenever disaster strikes. “No need (for a disaster)” he says.
“To explode (something) is not courage…explosion could only reward hatred. Instead, find rationality through education…what needs to be shattered is hatred,’’ Balakrishnan has written.
The senior cop has concluded his three-page poem with a clarion call to shower compassion on each other and spread love. “Let’s do good in the name of God. Forget the bad,” he signed off.
Balakrishnan who led the probe on the October 23 car blast until it was transferred to the National Investigation Agency has since then initiated multiple efforts to normalize the tense situation in Coimbatore. He held meetings with members of religious outfits to ensure that the situation does not spiral into more violence.
