King Charles III turns 74 today and a new photograph has been released to mark the birthday of the King. The image, posted by "The Royal Family" on Twitter, shows King Charles III leaning against an ancient oak tree in Windsor.
King Charles III celebrates his birthday as the monarch for the first time and will be spending it privately, with no official engagements announced today. The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, had sent their official message in the morning wishing His Majesty the King, their beloved father.
Coincidentally the family was out with the King yesterday as King Charles III led the "Remembrance Sunday" service by laying a wreath at the Cenotaph. The King's wreath was designed differently than in the past and carried the Royal Racing Colours on the ribbon. A card was enclosed, signed "Charles R", signifying the royal title of "Rex", which means "King" in Latin. The King led a troop of veterans to the Cenotaph and was accompanied by Prince William, the Prince of Wales. The Prince, too, laid out a wreath for the first time along with the new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. The occasion marked a new beginning for Great Britain.
The King or Queen of Britain has celebrated the Royal Monarch's official birthday on the first Saturday of June since the late 18th Century. The "Trooping the Colour" is set to be performed by the various armed forces on that day, where the troops march in with their flags (colours). King Charles III's coronation is planned for May 6, 2023, announced by Buckingham Palace.
