Bike event organiser booked for rider’s death

Panaji: Mapusa police on Monday booked Pune-resident and organiser of Mogrip Super Cross Championship, Shyam Kothari for negligence leading to death of 20-year-old rider Aftabalam Hassain Ladji, a resident of Gogal, Margao.
All the associates of the organiser have also been booked.
Police said that initially the rider’s death was registered as an accident case.
“The organisers who are the accused conducted the event negligently, by endangering human life and property, without taking proper care and caution as a result rider Ladji, who was a participant of the event, accidently fell on the track and thereafter succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim,” Mapusa PI Paresh Naik said. tnn
