On meeting with Priyanka Gandhi in jail, Nalini said, “She was emotional.”

CHENNAI : Nalini Sriharan, who has been released after 31 years of imprisonment in the Rajiv Gandhi assasination case, wants to bring her family together and live with them.

Meeting mediapersons with her lawyers on Sunday, Nalini said, “When in pris-on, I imagined I was living with my husband and child. Now is the time to realisethe dream. ” Nalini’s priority is getting her husband Sriharan out of the refugee camp in Trichy. “I request the state government to release him,” she said.
Asked how her husband Sriharan felt about the release, Nalini said, “He thinks it is a miracle. He thought it would take some more time. ”
Nalini said she would like to meet chief minister M K Stalin, but is apprehensive about how it will be perceived.
Nalini said that she is aware of the chief minister-Arivu (Perarivalan) meeting and that she doesn’t want to repeat it.
The people she wants to thank include former Supreme Court judge Sathasivam, for commuting their death sentence, J Jayalalithaa for her decision to release them, AIADMK leader and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for passing a resolution, and Stalin for granting her parole for one year. She wants to visit memorials of Jayalalithaa and Abdul Kalam to pay respects. About Priyanka Gandhi meeting her in prison, Nalini said the former asked about the incident in which her father was killed. “She was emotional,” she said.
About her prison life, Nalini said it was not easy. “We were treated like death convicts from the day we were arrested and the restrictions became severe after conviction,” she said.
But Nalini also called prison a university as it taught her life lessons and many skills.
