RANCHI: Two persons were killed and three dozens of passengers were injured in a bus-truck collision near the Dumri More along the ring road under the Tupudana police station area of the city on Saturday afternoon.
The injured have been admitted to various hospitals, including Rims. The bus was going from Ranchi towards Tapkara when the accident occurred.
The officer-in-charge of the local police station, Meera Singh, said, “The vegetable-laden truck hit the bus packed with passengers on the side causing it to overturn. One of the passengers was crushed under the bus.”
Locals and the police rescued the passengers and took the injured to hospitals, the officer added.
Later, the police mobilised two cranes to shift the bus and the truck from the road and restore normal traffic.
The tyre marks on the road showed that the truck driver tried to stop his vehicle, but could not, Hatia deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Raja Mitra said. He supervised the resue operations.
