60-year-old shot dead in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A 60-year-old woman was shot by unidentified miscreants at a village named Kahitoma under the Panbari police station along the borders of Chirang and Baksa districts on Friday. The deceased woman was identified as Anta Boro.
Dimbeswar Pathak, OC of Panbari police station, said, “At 8.06pm, we received information that a woman was shot dead. We rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.”
The police said the miscreants fired only one bullet aiming at the woman, following which she succumbed to her injuries.
So far no one has been arrested in connection with the case. However, a case has been registered at Panbari police station, the officer-in- charge said.
The woman is survived by her husband, a son, daughter-in-law and a daughter who lives in Baksa district, the OC added.
