Sudden brakes: School bus rams truck, 2 kids injured in Greater Noida
The bus driver was also injured in the accident on the Dadri bypass
GREATER NOIDA: A school bus driver and two children were injured on Saturday morning after their bus rammed into a truck in Dadri area of Greater Noida. Police have not received any complaint in this regard, officials said.
According to the cops, the accident happened at around 8.30am near the Dadri bypass.
The bus was carrying only the two children-a nine-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl-at the time of the incident.
Nitin Kumar Singh, assistant commissioner of police (ACP-2), Greater Noida, said that the driver was on the the way to pick up more children and take them to school.
"The accident happened due to a sudden halt by the truck. The bus was following the truck on the Dadri bypass. The truck driver suddenly applied brakes and the bus hit it. The two children suffered minor injuries while the driver was hurt on his right leg," Singh said on Saturday.
He further mentioned that the police were informed about the accident by people in the area, after which a team from the Dadri station went to the spot.
"The children and driver were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The boy and girl were administered first aid and were discharged. The truck driver had fled the accident spot soon after being hit by the bus, before the local people and police arrived," Singh said.
Rakesh Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Dadri police station, said the driver left the truck behind.
"We have seized both the truck and the bus while we have not received any written complaint from the school or the two children's parents in the matter and are carrying out further investigation," said Kumar.
