‘Mentoring fosters the spirit of learning, reflection and sharing’

Margao: As a step further towards implementation of National Education Policy 2020, the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) organised a two-day orientation programme on National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) at Navodaya Leadership Institute, Canacona, on Friday and Saturday.
NCTE has developed a draft of the bluebook on mentoring that serves as a guiding document towards implementing NMM. “Mentoring gives rise to a collaborative agency for stakeholders where the community of teachers fosters the spirit of learning, reflection and sharing towards capacity building,” a press note by NCTE said.
The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) emphasises the need for a national mission for mentoring. Accordingly, NCTE has proposed NMM as a means to improve the acquisition and sharing of knowledge, skills, and mindsets for school teachers across the Indian education system. NMM underlines the importance of short and long-term mentoring/professional support to teachers in various modes - online, hybrid, physical, synchronous and asynchronous mode, the note added.
