Kolkata: Kasba woman dies during Uttarakhand trek

KOLKATA: A 35-year-old Income Tax officer, Dipanjana Banerjee (35) - a resident of Bediadanga in Kasba - died on a trekking tour with her family in Uttarakhand. Her family members have been informed that Banerjee, suffering from high pressure, had successfully trekked up the Harki Doon but collapsed while returning from there.
"She felt breathless on Friday. Her husband even rushed her to a doctor," said Jhuma Pal, a relative.
A few family members have left for Dehradun-Rishikesh and are expected to return with her body on Sunday.
According to family members, Banerjee had joined a larger group for the tour and left the city on November 5. Her husband and child accompanied her. The incident has stunned her neighbourhood which has always seen her as one who loved visiting new places. "Her family is going through a tough time," said a neighbour.
