Edu dept to hold hearing in Bishop Cotton School principal post dispute
Nagpur: The district education department will hold a hearing between the management and a staff member of Bishop Cotton School (CBSE) over a dispute regarding the post of principal.
On Friday, the education department received a letter from Maudlin Tiwaskar who alleged that BCS’ management has illegally removed her from the post of principal. In a detailed letter, Tiwaskar has named some management members and provided a timeline on how both sides came to a conflicting stand.
Ravindra Katolkar, education officer, said, “I will hold a hearing in my office and invite both parties involved in this dispute. The management says that Tiwaskar was appointed in-charge/assistant principal and now they have taken away that charge. But she says this was done by flouting norms. Anyway, I will hear both sides as part of the protocol.”
The trust which manages the school, however, has refuted Tiwaskar’s allegations. Rachna Singh, secretary of the trust, said, “We had appointed Tiwaskar as in-charge principal. Also, we are not removing her, only transferring her to the BCS branch in Dharampeth on the same salary. Regardless, whenever a hearing is held at the education department’s office, we shall produce all documentary evidence.”
Tiwaskar has claimed that her status as in-charge has already changed as per the law because she completed more than two years in the post. In her letter to the education department, Tiwaskar wrote, “by virtue of section 5 of the Maharashtra Employees of Private Schools (conditions of services) Act 1977, the provision of deemed confirmation is applicable in the present case”.
