Over 11,000 cases disposed of during lok adalat in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A national lok adalat organised on Saturday at city civil and sessions court, Mumbai, and courts under chief metropolitan magistrate, state consumer forum, MACT, and cooperative appellate courts saw 10,000 post-litigation matters getting resolved and over 1,700 pre-litigation ones too.
Justice S V Gangapurwala of the Bombay high court as executive chairman of Maharashtra legal services authority and Registrar General, Bombay HC RN Joshi visited some of the 94 panels set up for the lok adalat, but also welcomed the concept and greater use of e-lok Adalat-the online mode to support panels hearing out of town litigants or those abroad.
They also distributed awards to participating litigants.
The Lok Adalat— an alternative mode of dispute resolution— convened by the district legal services authority, Mumbai, Chairperson Anil Subramaniam, and principal judge, city civil and sessions court.
The total settlement value of disposed of matters is more than Rs 500 crore.
There were 94 panels constituted in the lok Adalat.
A special drive from 7/11/2022 to 11/11/2022 at magistrate courts had also disposed of 11,819 pending cases.
