Vigilance officer held on rape charges

Thiruvananthapuram: The Aruvikkara police have arrested a senior CPO of Kunchalummoodu vigilance unit for allegedly raping a 40-year-old woman and also blackmailing her using her private pictures and videos.
The woman alleged that the officer raped her by giving false marriage promise and also uploaded her private videos on obscene online sites.
Sabu VS (48), a Kachani native, and the woman were in a relationship for seven years.
The officer is married and has two children. He had allegedly told the woman that he will legally get separated to marry her.
However, the woman started avoiding him after he failed to make any move to marry her. To take vengeance against her, he shared her pictures and edited videos on obscene sites online.
The police registered a case against him under IPC sections 376, 354, 342, 376 (2) (n) and 506 and also 66-E and 66-A of IT Act. The accused has been remanded after producing before a court.
