CM oks norms for wellbeing of coaching centre students

Jaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday approved guidelines with the aim of providing mental support and security to students studying or residing in coaching institutes in the state.
The guidelines include providing psychotherapeutic services for dealing with mental stress and depression caused by competition and academic pressure on students. At district level, it will also provide complete protection to students admitted and residing in hostels and arrangements to strengthen mental health of students.
The guidelines have been approved taking cognisance of incidents of suicides committed by students studying in the coaching institutes.
A state-level committee has been constituted to ensure the implementation of the guidelines by the coaching institutes. The committee includes senior officers of all departments concerned including higher education, school education, medical education and home. Apart from this, under the guidelines, District Level Coaching Institute Monitoring Committee has been constituted in each district, which includes officials of various departments as well as parents, representatives of coaching institutes, NGOs and psychologists and motivational speakers and additional district collectors of the district.
The guidelines also includes establishment of adequate monitoring mechanism, facilitation centre for coaching students, better management for cleanliness, required action at the level of coaching institutes, organisation of orientation programme for students and their parents who are studying in coaching institutes.
As per the guidelines, students studying in coaching institutes will be informed about the career options available in case they fail to clear the entrance examinations of IITs and medical institutions. Apart from this, provision has been made for easy exit policy and fee refund in case of leaving the institute. A complaint portal will be created under the guidelines.
