Maharashtra: Man kills friend for refusing to get cigarettes, held
THANE: A 42-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his 32 year old friend under the influence of alcohol after he refused to purchase cigarettes for him following a liquor party, the Dombivli police informed on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the afternoon of November 4 when the victim and the accused along with an unidentified friend were returning from a liquor party in Dombivli east.
“The trio reached the victim’s building in Pendse Nagar in Dombivli east where the accused asked him to purchase cigarettes for them to which he refused. This sparked off an argument between the two which escalated into a fight wherein the accused assaulted the victim repeatedly till he lost consciousness. Later the victim who stays with his elder sister went home complaining of headache and lost consciousness following which he was admitted to the Kalwa hospital where he died,” informed deputy commissioner of police, zone III, Sachin Gunjal.
The victim’s sister approached the Ram Nagar police after she checked the CCTV footage outside the building and noticed the assault on her brother. Accordingly, a case was registered and the accused was arrested and presented before the court that sent him to police custody.
