Ludhiana: A day after the Sahnewal police booked six persons including a woman for torching the car of a person in Surjit Nagar in Giaspura area, the police are yet to arrest any of the accused persons.
On Thursday, Sahnewal police had booked six accused — Vivek Pandey, Ayush, Himanshu Lohara, Ram Diyal, Ramesh and Nirmala Devi — of Surjit Nagar in Giaspura under sections 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC for allegedly setting the car of Nagmani on fire.
The complainant Nagmani told the cops that he used to park his Alto car in a plot near his house. He added that on October 19, his car was in flames and later there was an explosion and his car got totally damaged in that incident. He further added that later when he checked the CCTV footage, he found that the accused were torching his car. He later informed the police. The police reached the complainant and started the probe into the matter. Police later registered the case.
Kangwal police post in-charge, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Rajwant Singh said that the accused are yet to be arrested and the case is being investigated. He suggested that the complainant is an RTI activist and has had issues with many persons.
Meanwhile, the purported video shows the car being damaged by two youths and then a youth spraying petrol on it and setting on fire. tnn
