Assam hails Lovlina Borgohain’s gold win in Asian Boxing Championships

GUWAHATI: Pugilist and Olympian Lovlina Borgohain brought yet another glory for the state by winning the gold medal in the Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan on Friday.
Lovlina registered victory in her maiden tournament in the 75kg category. She cruised to a 5-0 unanimous decision win over Ruzmetova Sokhiba of Uzbekistan.
The Boxing Federation of India took to its official Twitter handle to congratulate the gold medalist saying, “LOVLINA GETS GOLD! Proud of you champ.”
Several Twitteratis hailed Lovlina after she clinched the gold medal.
A user wrote, “Lovlina Borogohain you are real star of India. All Indians are proud on you.”
“Lovlina has now a bright start to her new Olympic weight category but winning in Asia at times mean nothing. Has to do it consistently at the better events,” wrote another user.
Yet another user wrote, “So Proud of you movement of India. Lovlina Borgohain wins her first gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship! Many many Congratulations Lovlina Borgohain.”
