Gujarat polls: BJP ticket for Godhra MLA who backed convicts in Bilkis Bano case

AHMEDABAD: Godhra BJP MLA C K Raulji who had courted controversy by saying the convicts in the Bilkis Bano case, who were released, were Brahmins and had good ‘sanskar’ was granted ticket by the BJP from the Godhra seat.
Raulji had made the comment in an interview he gave regarding the release of the 11 persons convicts. During the interview, he said the committee had found the conduct of the convicts satisfactory.
Raulji was a member of the Godhra jail advisory board that had recommended remission of the sentences of the accused based on their conduct. The board’s constitution had come under the scanner as it was dominated by BJP members.
