Chennai police find scribblings about ISIS in youth’s diary, arrest him
CHENNAI: The Royapuram police in Chennai on Friday arrested a youth who carried a diary having some scribblings about the banned ISIS.
The arrested youth has been identified as Nagoor Meeran, 22, who runs a mobile phone accessories shop near Ethiraj College in Egmore. Meeran lives with his mother in a rental house in Patel Nagar. His mother runs a Burmese food shop in Tondiarpet.
Meeran was riding on his bike towards Parry’s Corner on Friday when cops intercepted him on the East Cemetery Road in Royapuram. They asked him to produce documents of his vehicle. The cops found a diary in his possession. He had scribbled information about ISIS in the diary, the police said.
Inquiries revealed that Meeran often watched videos on YouTube about fundamentalists. The police said he had searched online on how to make bombs.

An investigation officer, who inquired Meeran, said: "He developed an admiration for the ISIS ideology on his own."
