ARA: A 42-year-old property dealer was shot dead at Dhanupra under Town police station in Ara on Friday. Shashi Kumar Singh alias Vikki Singh owned a daal (lentils) mill at Gidha on Ara-Patna road. He was the son of former ward councillor Mahendra Singh, a resident of Kanakpuri locality under Nawada police station in the town.
This is the third murder in Ara town within one week, including the kidnapping and brutal killing of noted jeweller Hariji Gupta.
"Shashi was shot at from behind by some miscreants at about 11am near a petrol pump at Dhanupra. We are scanning the CCTV footage and investigating the case. His father is in a state of shock and unable to reveal anything. Details about the reason behind the murder can be gathered after talking to the family members," Sadar SDPO Himanshu said at Ara Sadar hospital.
Police sources said Shahsi was shot at by four miscreants on two bikes.
BJP's Barhara MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh said the morale of the criminals is high. "Murders are frequently taking place in the district. The culprits must be arrested immediately," he said.
Singh and LJP (Ram Vilas) parliamentary board president and former MLC Hulas Pandey visited Ara Sadar hospital and met the family members of the deceased.
"It is not merely jungle raj but now it is 'Mahajungle raj in the state since Nitish Kumar joined hands with RJD. Eight murders have taken place in eight days in Bhojpur district. The morale of the criminals are so high that they killed a young property dealer in broad daylight on busy Ara-Patna road," Pandey said.
