MUMBAI: Vakola police are on the lookout for four men who allegedly threatened a 33-year-old man and robbed him of his gold chain and cash totally worth Rs 60 lakh at gun-point on October 3.
An FIR was filed two days ago after the victim, Cladius Jude Mudaliyar, filed a complaint with police in Dharavi, where he resides. Since the alleged incident took place in Santacruz (East), Dharavi cops have transferred the case to their Vakola counterparts.
According to police, Mudaliyar was robbed after he was made to drink and gamble online, which resulted in him losing Rs 60 lakh. When he refused to pay up, the men threatened him with dire consequences and robbed his chain and the cash he had with him.
The incident took place when Mudaliyar visited a defunct building at Shastri Nagar in Santacruz after receiving a call from his friend Mushrif Khan, who told him that he wanted to repay a Rs 5,000 loan. "When I went to the place, Khan and his three friends offered me a drink. They then made me play an online gambling game and robbed me when I lost to them," Mudaliyar said.
