Bhubaneswar: Most places in the state are likely to experience gradual fall in minimum temperature by 3°C to 4°C in the 4 to 5 days from Saturday, said the latest forecast from IMD on Thursday. “A gradual strengthening of northerly and north-westerly wind at the lower level would influence fall in minimum temperature across the state,” said H R Biswas, the regional head of IMD centre in the city. Biswas said on Friday the minimum temperature is likely to witness a slight fall in parts of the state.
Thereafter from Saturday, the night temperature would see a fall and the trend would continue for three to four days.
Former director IMD, regional centre, Sarat Chandra Sahu said the flow of pollutants from North-West India towards Odisha by the wind did not support for appreciable decrease in minimum temperature over the state. Sahu said prevailing trend of drop in minimum temperature is likely to continue till November 18.
On Thursday, the minimum temperature saw a slight fall at a few places. The night temperature also stood at normal or above normal at many places.
Boudh at 13.5°C recorded day’s lowest minimum temperature. Similarly, Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum of 19°C, a 1.5°C below normal. Shallow to moderate fog was experienced at Balangir, Bhawanipatna and Parlakhemundi.
