GURUGRAM: The Facebook and Instagram accounts of Kiran Choudhary, the Congress MLA from Tosham, was allegedly hacked by cyber crooks, who demanded $1,000 and threatened her that an “objectionable” post would be made from her accounts if she did not pay up.
A case has been filed at Cyber West police station in Gurugram.
Upon knowing her Facebook and Instagram accounts were hacked, Chaudhary also took to social media and informed her followers about the same.
“I have filed a complaint with the cyber police. Meanwhile, if you receive any message or post from my account, it won’t be me. I will post you when my accounts are recovered,” she said in the tweet.
In her police complaint, Chaudhary claimed that the hacker had first asked for $500 and later increased it to $1000.
The cyber police, however, said the social media accounts of the Congress MLA have been recovered.
“We recovered the social media accounts of Kiran Chaudhary on Wednesday night through our cyber crime team. The location of the culprit is Ireland. We have shared the information with Chaudhary,” assistant commissioner of police (cyber crime) Priyanshu Diwan told TOI.
