Varanasi: The panel constituted by the vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain to look into the issues raised by some students regarding the proposed fee structure from academic session 2022-23 onwards, started the dialogue process with the student representatives.
According to the BHU spokesperson, the committee, on Thursday, held a meeting with the representatives of the students at the Central Office. The representatives from various student groups presented their concerns and views before the committee following which the committee decided that it will examine the facts and submit its report on or before December 25.
The committee is chaired by the director of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Prof Yashwant Singh. Other members of the committee include Prof AS Raghubanshi, director of the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development, Prof Madhoolika Agrawal, the dean of the faculty of Science, Prof AK Nema, the dean of Students, and Prof Abhimanyu Singh, chief proctor. The deputy registrar, academic, Pushyamitra Trivedi is the member secretary of the committee.
The committee has been mandated to examine and apprise the fees structure as proposed and implemented in the academic session 2022-23 and onwards and also look into the representations made by student groups. The committee was tasked to establish communication and dialogue with the selected students of the representative groups.
The BHU administration had clarified that no revision has been made effective for the current students of BHU and they will continue to pay the existing fee till their course of study is completed. The new structure is only applicable to the candidates taking admission in academic session 2022-23 onwards. However, some students have approached the administration and made representations regarding the proposed fee structure and hostel charges. In light of these representations the VC constituted the committee to look into these issues.
