GREATER NOIDA: Three men, out for dinner at a restaurant in the city, allegedly roughed up and slapped a waiter after they were told that the eatery could not serve their order late on Wednesday night.
The three - Manoj, Pravesh and Krish, all residents of Dadri - were identified from CCTV footage from the restaurant and arrested from the city on Thursday.
Police said the incident took place around 10.30pm at Zauk restaurant in Ansal Plaza. "On Wednesday night, the three accused had gone to the restaurant for dinner and ordered chicken biryani. After some time, a waiter named Altaaf told them that the biryani was over. One of the accused lost his cool and caught hold of the waiter's collar," said Mahendra Dev, ACP-1, Greater Noida.
The other two joined in, slapping Altaaf and dragging him outside the restaurant. Bystanders intervened and rescued the waiter, after which the three left the complex.
"The entire incident was captured on CCTVs. We received a complaint on Thursday, following which a case was registered against the three under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 147 (punishment for rioting) of the IPC at Knowledge Park police station," Dev said.
The three accused were caught on Thursday.
During interrogation, they told cops that they had been made to wait for long without being served food, and they lost their temper in the "heat of the moment", a senior police officer said.
The three will be produced before a court on Friday.
