DMK govt bringing prosperity to Tamil Nadu, says CM MK Stalin
COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu is growing prosperous ever since DMK came to power, chief minister M K Stalin said on Thursday. While the state government is fulfilling its poll promises and even implementing welfare measures, which were not promised, to ensure the well-being of people, the state has received copious rain ever since DMK came to power, he said in Erode on Thursday.
Speaking at the family function of a DMK functionary, the CM said farmers are rejoicing due to abundant rainfall, while the common man is also happy since there is no drinking water shortage. “Way back in 1996, when I became the mayor of Chennai corporation, heavy showers began from the very next day. Similarly, when I became chief minister in 2021 also, there was abundant rainfall. The copious showers continue even now,” he said.
The government has been rolling out welfare programmes that were not part of the electoral promise, Stalin said. Earlier in the day, Stalin, who landed in Coimbatore, visited the house of former MLA Kovai Thangam, who died recently, at Saibaba Colony in the city. Thangam was in Tamil Maanila Congress, but quit the party in the run up to the 2021 assembly elections and supported DMK.
It was the first visit by Stalin to Coimbatore after the October 23 car explosion. Though BJP has been accusing him for not visiting the blast site and remaining silent over the issue, the CM has chosen not to change his stand.
Stalin is scheduled to share dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the event scheduled in Gandhigram University in Dindigul on Friday.
