Sachindra Pratap Singh examines cattle affected by lumpy skin disease in Yavatmal
The animal husbandry commissioner spoke to cattle owners at villages in Babhulgaon, Ner and Darwha tehsils of Yavatmal district
YAVATMAL: The commissioner for animal husbandry Sachindra Pratap Singh on Thursday visited Yavatmal to get first-hand information about the lumpy skin disease (LSD) spreading among cattle in the district.
SP Singh examined the affected animals after speaking to their owners at villages in Babhulgaon, Ner and Darwha tehsils of the district.
Later, he chaired a review meeting in the collector’s office which was attended by district collector Amol Yedge, ZP CEO Dr Shrikrishna Panchal, assistant dean of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University Dr Anil Bhikane, deputy commissioner Dr Gohatre, district animal husbandry officer Dr Kranti Katole and others. The taluka animal husbandry officers attended the meeting online.
SP Singh urged officers to give priority to care of affected animals. He informed that the government has approved recruitment of qualified persons on contract basis to check spread of lumpy skin disease.
Dr Bhikane stressed on vaccination of the young animals (calves) and pregnant animals.
