Mysuru: Amid mounting criticism over the worsening condition of several roads in the Heritage City, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) assured citizens of ridding all avenues and thoroughfares of potholes by November 25. Mysuru mayor Shivakumar on Wednesday said that the civic agency would initiate work on filling of potholes from Thursday.
Attributing the delay in starting work on the roads to rain, the mayor said, “All major roads in Mysuru will be repaired without delay.”
In the wake of conservationists and experts voicing concerns over several historic structures enduring for posterity, Shivakumar said, “We will float a tender to award a contract to companies to help check the damage being wrought by rats and termites to historic structures. I will lead a delegation to Bengaluru, where we will meet the CM and seek funds for conservation and restoration of our heritage structures.”
The mayor added that MCC had granted permission for the laying of pipelines along the length of 50km across the city for the piped natural gas network in the first phase of the project.
Shivakumar said that he would hold ‘MCC’ Adalat’ to help solve problems plaguing the residents of Mysuru. He added that the other objective behind the event was to usher in transparency in local governance, besides ensuring time-bound solutions.
