Varanasi: IIT(BHU), UEC sign pact for academic exchange program
IIT(BHU) and the University of Electro-Communications (UEC), Tokyo, Japan, sign an MoU for academic exchange and cooperation between the two institutions recently.
VARANASI: Under the agreement of cooperation between the IIT(BHU) and the University of Electro-Communications (UEC), Tokyo, Japan, an MoU was signed recently for academic exchange and cooperation between the two institutions on the basis of equality and reciprocity. The general forms of the cooperation include exchange of academic and administrative staff, students, academic information and publications, conducting joint research projects, symposia and other activities on which both the institutions agree.
According to the IIT(BHU) spokesperson, the MoU was signed in the presence of IIT(BHU) director Prof Pramod Kumar Jain, dean (faculty affairs) Prof Rajnesh Tyagi, dean (academic affairs) Prof. SB Dwivedi, Rakesh Kumar Singh of Physics department as a coordinating faculty and Sanjay Singh of School of Material Science and technology as a representative from the Centre for Quantum computing and Technologies from IIT(BHU) side. From the UEC President UEC Prof Tano Shunichi, Member of Board of Directors (Education and international strategy) Prof Abe Kohji, Director International Education Centre Prof Watanabe Shinichi, Dept of Engineering Science, coordinating faculty Prof Yoko Miyamoto and Director, Institute for Advanced Science Prof Minoshima Kaoru were present on the occasion.
The signing ceremony started with opening remarks and general introduction of the institute/university by both sides initiated by the director IIT (BHU) and the president UEC, Japan. They highlighted the need for strong academic collaborations between the two institutions.
The IIT(BHU) director highlighted recent initiatives undertaken by the institute to establish collaborations with different universities from across the globe. The UEC president highlighted existing collaborations in the area of Laser Optics and Optical Science between the IIT (BHU) and the UEC, and a recent visit of Prof. Yoko Miyamoto to the IIT (BHU).
He emphasized the need to further broaden academic collaborations between two institutions by including many faculties from both sides. Both of them had a converging opinion that initiative will help in forging a strong collaboration between the two institutes.
Prof SB Dwivedi presented academic courses offered by the IIT (BHU) and highlighted some unique courses and research activities at the institute.
This was followed by a brief presentation by Sanjay Singh on recent initiatives on Quantum computing and Technologies. Prof. Watanabe Shinichi gave a brief presentation on the history, background and research activities of UEC. He also emphasised the strong strength and background of the UEC in areas of laser and quantum optics, material science, quantum technology, nano robotics, communications, and information science.
