Dera Sacha Sauda follower killed at Kotkapura in Punjab, was facing sacrilege case

BATHINDA: The unidentified gunmen killed Dera Sacha Sauda follower Pardeep Singh at Kotkapura in a shootout on early Thursday morning.
Pardeep Singh was facing the case of sacrilege in the incident of theft of the Bir of Guru Granth Sahib from village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 1, 2015. He was out on bail.
The five persons on two bikes are learnt to have fired indiscriminately when Pardeep was opening his milk dairy at Hari Nau Singh road in Kotkapura. Pardeep’s gunman and another person sustained injuries in the incident.
In the similar way, the dera follower Gurdev Singh was killed at his shop on the morning of June 13, 2016 at village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala. Later, Dera follower Mohinderpal Bittu was killed in high security Nabha Jail on June 22. 2019. The dera follower Manohar Lapl was killed at his shop at village Bhagta Bhaika in Bathinda on November 20, 2020. Both Bittu and Manohar Lal’ son Jatinderbir were facing the sacrilege cases.
The police is looking into the CCTV footage where armed gunmen are learnt to have been spotted firing at Pardeep Singh.
Behbal Kalan police firing deceased Krishan Bhagwan Singh’s son Sukhraj Singh terms the incident as frustration of the people waiting for justice for over 7 years. The patience of the justice seeking people is running out from which such incidents occur.
The police said the incident is being investigated thoroughly.
