Hospital chain Fortis Healthcare will soon have a new name - Parkway.
Ravi Rajagopal, chairman of Fortis Healthcare, told ET that all previous status quo orders stand vacated, paving the way for them to make changes which they intended to.
In our view, the road is now clear to carry on with plans to change the brand name, he said.
"The point being the brand name, as the world knows, is a name that doesn't legally belong to Fortis. The Fortis board, therefore, decided that it was most prudent to change the brand name. Everything was held pending the Supreme Court order," he said.
Rajagopal said they have informed the SC of their intent to change the brand name.
Parkway is a brand owned by Malaysian healthcare major IHH, which is the largest shareholder in Fortis with 31.1% stake.
