Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has come down heavily against the Centre and the Governor for trying to intrude into the constitutional and democratic powers.
“There is an attempt to sabotage democratically elected governments. In those states where the horse-trading is not possible, the Governors are being used to topple governments,” he said while inaugurating the state conference of the ISRO Staff Association here on Tuesday.
However, he said that it cannot be termed as mere horse trading because the rates have gone up.
He alleged the Centre is privatizing even sensitive sectors. PSUs which have state government shares also are being sold or disinvested without consulting the state governments. The states have provided land for these PSUs and the Centre is handing them over to private players, which is totally unacceptable.
It is also a matter of concern that privatization has reached our space programmes. Corporates will take over the country’s space programmes. There is no value for social justice and reservations in the private sector. Hence the Centre is trying to sabotage the entire system by privatizing various sectors, he added.
The CM also flayed the Centre for not fulfilling the promises of providing employment for the youth in the country. “When the Centre is claiming that they will create two lakh jobs, they are ignorant of the fact that 10 lakh posts are lying vacant in various central government organisations,” he said.tnn
