UP: 5 drug peddlers nabbed with opium worth Rs 10 lakh

LUCKNOW: Five members of an inter-state drug peddling gang were arrested by Chinhat police on Tuesday. Police also recovered two kilograms of opium worth Rs 10 lakh, Rs 40,000 cash and a four-wheeler from their possession.
Those arrested were Mukesh Kumar Verma, 45, Balram Kumar, 24, Sunil Kumar, 42, Purshottam, 40,) and Sandeep Kumar Verma, 33.
Station House Officer, Chinhat police station, Tej Bahadur Singh said the gang used to operate between Jharkhand, Lucknow and Barabanki.
“We got a tip off that a gang was coming from the Barabanki side and with the help of the crime branch we arrested the members near Deva Road,” he said. tnn
