CPI plans statewide stir against Soren govt from November 15
Ranchi: Alleging that corruption is rampant under the Hemant Soren-led government, CPI national secretary Atul Anjan on Tuesday said his party will start an agitation across the state from November 15.
Anjan said he welcomes the Supreme Court’s decision on the public interest litigation against the Jharkhand chief minister (CM) but it does not mean that corruption has ended.
He also questioned the performance of the state government on the issues of displacement of people and rising unemployment. “The Jharkhand government would have to face the people’s court one day,” he added.
The CPI leader also said that his party has chalked out a detailed programme of the statewide agitation on burning local issues. The party’s state council has reportedly decided to hold the ‘Sankalp Abhiyaan’ at the village level on November 15, which would be followed by ‘Akorsh’ (anger) demonstration at the block headquarters from December 10 to 22. The party will also gherao the district headquarters from January 10 to 22, which would be followed by statewide bandh.
Speaking on the BJP-led government at the Centre, Anjan said the Union government has imposed goods and services tax on almost every product. “The taxes are more on essential commodities. The foreign reserve of the country has gone down by 100 billion dollars and its gold reserve has also decreased,” he added.
Anjan said, “All non-BJP political parties should form a united ‘morcha’ to remove the present government in the 2024 elections.”
The CPI leader, however, said the Indian government’s stand on the Russia-Ukraine war was balanced.
