PRAYAGRAJ: City police on Tuesday claimed to have busted an interstate gang involved in looting trucks and arrested five of its members in trans-Ganga area while plotting a crime. Police have also recovered three trucks, a SUV, two country made pistols of 0.315 bore along with five live cartridges and four iron rods from their possession. The arrested criminals were identified as Shamshad, Anees, Girjashankar Yadav alias Nakul, Meraz and Sameer, residents of Pratapgarh and Mauaima.
Police said that Dilbahar, a resident of Mandhata was the kingpin of the gang. His two brothers – Maijid and Azad – had already been sent behind the bars in connection with loot cases. There are 15-20 members in the gang who used to target trucks plied on highway. The modus operandi is simple. These gangsters used to travel in looted trucks and SUVs and once they identify a truck, they used to park their looted truck or SUV infornt of targeted vehicle and loot it. They used to blindfold drivers of looted trucks and travel long distances so that victims could not judge about roads. Before releasing truck drivers, they used to lock them in deserted houses.tnn
