Haryana: booked for burning tent at dharna site in Hisar village
Residents of Khairampur talk to police on Tuesday
HISAR: The police here have booked six persons for allegedly burning the tents of Khairampur villagers, who were staging a dharna outside Government Girls High School against shortage of teachers.
Based on the complaint of Dinesh, a Khairampur resident, a case was registered at the Adampur police station against Chhotu Poonia, Indra Bhadu, Manjit Godara, Rahul Godara, Bharata Poonia and Ishwar Chahar under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (common object of unlawful assembly), 379 (theft), and 435 (mischief) of the Indian Penal Code, said the police.
While the police have started investigation after registering a criminal case, the villagers have re-started dharna. It was alleged that the tent had been burnt by the supporters of BJP MP Kuldeep Bishnoi.
In his complaint, Dinesh said 20-30 persons, including him, were on dharna for the last 67 days against the shortage of teachers in the school. On the night of November 6, around 10 O’clock, the accused persons came to the spot and took away the tent and safety papers of the tents installed at the dharna site.
Amrish, a village resident, is a witness to the whole incident, said Dinesh, adding that next day in the morning, the tents and safety papers were found burnt at some distance from the dharna site.
INLD leader and MLA Abhay Singh Chautala said before the Adampur byelection, the government had issued a letter to stop merger of the school at Dhani Mohabbatpur village, but as soon as the voting was over, the list of schools to be merged was issued in which, apart from 17 schools of Adampur, one school each in Hansi, Barwala, Narnaund were included. Following this, tents outside Government Girls High School in Khairampur village were burnt.
State Congress spokesperson Hanuman Verma said the attack on Congress candidate Jai Prakash was yet to cool down and Kuldeep Bishnoi and BJP supporters set the tents at the protest site in Khairampur on fire. He said Khairampur was a Bishnoi dominated village and Bhavya Bishnoi lost from there following which the tents were burnt.
Only 2 teachers
Khairampur residents said the village school was up to Class X and before the online transfer drive, there was one head teacher and six other teachers for 126 girl students. Now, there is a head teacher and two other teachers and they teach social science and Sanskrit.
Poll effect
Khairampur, a Bishnoi majority village, has 3,275 voters out of which only 2,735 cast their vote. Of the total votes polled, Congress candidate Jai Prakash got 1,359 votes, while BJP’s Bhavya Bishnoi got 1,228 votes.
