Varanasi: The civil judge (senior division) fast-track court will deliver order on the maintainability of a suit filed by the Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangh (VVSS), seeking ban on the entry of Muslims in Gyanvapi and other reliefs, on November 14.
Additional district government counsel (civil) Sulabh Prakash on Tuesday said, “As the civil judge (senior division) FTC Mahendra Kumar Pandey was on leave on Tuesday, no further proceeding in this could take place and the next date for hearing was fixed as November 14.”
A fter completion of arguments by VVSS and Anjuman Intejamia Masajid (Gyanvapi mosque management committee) on the issue of maintainability of this case and submission of their written arguments by October 18, the court had reserved order to deliver it Tuesday,” he added. On May 24, VVSS had filed a petition in FTC to seek ban on the entry of Muslims in Gyanvapi mosque, handing over Gyanvapi premises to the Hindus and permitting regular ‘puja-archana’ (worshipping) of Lord Aadi Visheshwar. FTC started day-to-day hearing in this case early this month. After VVSS lawyers’ submission in support of the demand of plaintiff Kiran Singh, the AIM had challenged the maintainability of the suit referring to the Places of Worship Act, 1991, the Waqf Act, 1995 and Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Act, 1983 and other provisions. VVSS is also backing plaintiff no. 1 in Rakhi Singh vs state of UP and others in which five women are seeking regular worship of Goddess Shringar Gauri and other deities in the Gyanvapi complex. After the district judge court termed this case maintainable, further hearing in the matter is underway
