CHENNAI: Customs officials at Chennai airport have seized three kg of
gold, which was hidden as long strips in the internal frame of trolleys bag of two passengers.
The passengers who arrived from
Oman on Tuesday were intercepted based on information. Their baggage was searched. The trolley bags were completely torn and gold hidden as strips in the internal frames was recovered.
The total gold seized weighed about three kg and was valued to be worth Rs 1.33 crore. The passengers were arrested. Further investigation was on.
