2 rock pythons rescued in Balangir
BALANGIR: Forest staff rescued two giant Indian rock pythons from a hillock near Daitarimunda village under Patnagarh forest range in the district on Tuesday. The pythons measured 8 feet and 10 feet, respectively.
According to forest officials, the snakes were spotted by some villagers in the morning while they were going to attend nature's call. The pythons were hiding inside a bush on the rocky mound.
Villagers informed the forest department about the snakes. A team from Larambha forest section reached the spot and after an hour, the snakes were rescued from the bush. The team examined both the snakes and later released them into a forest.
"It is really a pleasant experience to rescue such a beautiful animal before they had an encounter with humans," said a forest official.
In a rescue operation on Monday, staff of Kantabanji forest range saved the life of a wounded Indian eagle owl in Nuapara village and after proper treatment by a veterinary doctor, released it into the open.
