Ghaziabad man held for raping, cheating woman on pretext of marriage

NOIDA: A Ghaziabad resident was arrested on Monday for allegedly cheating a woman of nearly Rs 30 lakh and raping her over a period on pretext of marrying her.
Police said the accused man met the woman through a matrimonial site.
Four months ago, he introduced himself as an HR manager with a leading telecom company.
He told the woman that his sister is suffering from cancer, and he required money for her treatment. "The man took Rs 30 lakh from her on the pretext of his sister’s treatment. The duo also got into a physical relationship,” said ADCP (Noida) Ashutosh Dwivedi.
When the woman asked for her money, the accused switched of his phone. Investigation revealed that the man stayed with another woman in Khoda and transferred the money to her.
