The Papikondalu boat rides, after experiencing a gap of five-months due to the constant rains and rise in a spate of floods in Godavari River, from Monday i.e. November 7th, are likely to be resumed once again. The government of Andhra Pradesh is making arrangements to start the boat rides at Papikondalu once again on the Godavari River. During the winter months, it’s a much-awaited trip in the State.
Back in 2019, the boat tourism got stalled after the boat tragedy happened near Kachuluru village in Devipatnam Mandal of East Godavari district. In December 2021, it was resumed however, yet again; it had to be stopped due to the Godavari floods on June 4th, 2022. Till September, this year, the floods continued to plague the river along with the region’s tourism as it suffered poorly after launches were rendered inoperable.
The weather turning conducive as the rains have started subsiding, and news of the introduction of the boat rides coming up once again, Bhadrachalam and the adjoining areas are flourishing with new lodges, hotels, and travel cars being set up for business.
From the Pochavaram Ferry Point in VRpuram Mandal of Alluri Sitaramaraju District, boating will be available along with the Poshamma Gandi Ferry Point in Devipatnam Mandal. On Monday, AP Tourism launches will start from these two important points. For tourists, within other two or three days, supplementary launches will be available.
