Margao: The Sanvordem Curchorem Rail Consumers’ Association has demanded a change in departure timing from Vasco railway station for Train No 17310 Vasco-Yeshwantpur daily Express.
The train services resumed in October 2022. However, in a letter addressed to the divisional railway manager, South Western Railway, Hubbali division, the association has pointed out that the timings of the train cause much inconvenience to those boarding the train at Sanvordem.
It pointed out that while the scheduled departure time of the train from Vasco station is at 10.55pm, it departs from Sanvordem station at 11.55pm.
“The Vasco-Yeshwantpur Express is of great help and convenience to the commuters and business community of Goa and the neighbouring state. However, the present timing is very inconvenient to the passengers,” Devanand Bhandari, president of Sanvordem Curchorem Rail Consumers’ Association, said in the letter.
Bhandari also pointed out that the train timings are such that passengers do not get onward train connectivity for those travelling to Bijaput and Bagalkot. He said that the association has received several complaints from regular travellers to these places with regards to the hardships faced by them on account of the inconvenient timings of the train.
Bhandari has requested the railway authorities to reschedule the train timings so that it departs from Vasco station by 9pm so as to ensure that passengers from Goa have a pleasant and hassle-free journey.
The association has also demanded that installation of a passenger shed on platform No 2 with adequate seating arrangement.
