Varanasi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the proposed ‘Kashi Tamil Samagam’ virtually on November 19.
Asking officials to ensure a high standard of arrangements for Samagam proposed between November 17 and December 16 in Varanasi, he also directed the officials to add Tamils settled in Varanasi with in event as volunteers for easy coordination with the visitors.
Reviewing the preparations of KTC at a meeting with the officials at the circuit house here late Sunday, Yogi said that the PM will get connected with the event virtually on the third-day after its opening on November 19.
Yogi said that the state government and local administration will hold the responsibility of coordination for KTS being organised by the Union ministry of education. When he sought details of Tamils settled in Varanasi, divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma informed him that 1,000 Tamil families settled here for a long time had been identified and communication for seeking their cooperation had also been started.
Yogi asked the officials to incorporate local Tamils and mobilise them to act as volunteers with police personnel for easy coordination with the Tamil delegates and participants of the event. Those Tamils, who have performed outstandingly in their fields concerned, should also be identified to exchange their experience with the visitors. He asked for the cooperation of Banaras Hindu University and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth scholars in this regard.
Yogi asked the officials to ensure proper security of visitors, who will also go to Prayagraj and Ayodhya. He directed for proper arrangements of translators.
He asked to hold a high-level coordination meeting in the presence of chief secretary, DGP and senior officials of railway. He also asked for a special cleanliness drive and sanitary arrangements.
A total of 2,500 people in 12 groups from three centres in Tamil Nadu are being invited to Kashi in this one-month event to understand the culture of Kashi and its importance.
