Treated in Nagpur, Omani flyer returns home
Nagpur: The Omani national, whose health condition warranted emergency landing at Nagpur airport last week, was discharged from the hospital on Sunday night. He left Nagpur at 1am on Sunday.
The man was on a Muscat-Bangkok flight of Oman Air flying over Nagpur skies when he took ill throwing out blood onboard. Doctors at KIMS-Kingsway Hospital, where the 45-year-old was taken, said he was going to Bangkok for treatment of bleeding bronchial artery. Now the man has been cured in Nagpur itself, said Dr Harshwardhan Bora.
One of the staffers who knew basic Arabic initiated the conversation as the patient spoke a little English. Doctors used translation apps also.
“I know very basic Arabic. On meeting him, I first greeted him ‘How are you; in Arabic. He responded and later we spoke in English,” said Shabista Saba, the hospital staff.
“My cousins are in Saudi Arabia. I took them on call and got help. I talked using some words in Arabic which was enough for him to understand and respond,” she said.
